results of pre-BoF conference call

We had a productive call on Thursday to help set up an agenda for IETF Bof
the week of Dec 7-11 in Orlando. For more information, go to
<www.ietg.og/meetings/agenda.txt>.

Participants:

Bill Maggs MCI Worldcom
Ingrid Melve, Uninett
John Martin, TERENA
John Dilley, HP Palo Alto
Marty Kagan, Cisco
Paul Gauthier, Inktomi
Peter Danzig, Network Appliance

Key results:

1. No date for BoF yet, could be posted on ietf.org Friday or Monday

2. We have a proposed charter. It will be posted on a web page and
announced soon.

3. Of the three proposed key areas for work and document preparation, we
have some tight, threaded milestones (previously posted) and we have
consensus to make them tighter. We'll see if this sticks to the wall.

4. We have commitment from Paul Gauthier to submit WPAD to IETF post haste
(thank you, Paul).

5. We expect a date for submission of WCCP to IETF by the time of the BoF.

6. Oh yes. Consensus to change the name of the WG to WEb Replication and
Caching (wrec). As John Martin says, We're going to wrec the Internet!

I want to encourage everone in the caching/content community (researchers,
software and hardware people, and network types, and even CONTENT
PROVIDERS) to come to the BoF in Orlando, even on relatively short notice.
I think we've got a great opportunity to do some good work. I'm
cross-posting to isp-cache. Please spread the word and email this list or
me privately for more information. And check the agenda on ietf.org for
the BoF date.

Thanks all,

Bill
