I dug quickly through the archives and the list has been fairly
quiet. To summarize the working group mail I observe the following:
- There were three postings by yours truly asking for comments on
the known problems draft (I didn't get a copy myself and did not
see any replies and assumed so assumed the list was not working).
- There was a note from Ingrid Melve regarding the taxonomy draft
and how to account for security issues, looking to leverage from
the work in the http-v11 community.
- Some announcements (WREC research issues draft available,
surrogates mailing list, INFOCOMM 2000, MATA, ICP in Perl).
My take at where we're at as a WG is we are in a phase of
documenting the current state of web proxying, replication and caching
technology and preparing to take a look forward at where we're going.
The taxonomy and known problems drafts are documenting current practice;
the research issues draft discusses more future issues.
I'd like to encourage everyone's participation, review and input
on the working drafts that are in progress. This is necessary to build
a solid foundation for the working group and to assess the community's
experience with proxy and caching technology. Best regards,
