RE: Interim goals and milestones

It's a good idea to buckle down and finish off the reqs def.
However, I'm doubtful if we can meet the Feb/Mar deadline,
if we're to divert a good portion of our time and energy to
examine RUP-relevant protocols. (Yes, examine, we can't
just glance them over.) There're infinitely many of them.
We can't do them all. So we'll have to commit to only few.
Then the dilemma becomes: which few? Furthermore, can the
chosen few cough up the appropriate write-ups in time, taking
into consideration IP clearance for proprietary stuff and all?
My point is: let's not lose focus; do the reqs as the reqs are.
Afterall, the previous efforts might have stalled for various
reasons, but the lack of protocol exhibits wasn't one of them.

I wouldn't give it the slightest thought on getting visibility.
It should have no relevance with the work being done,
notwithstanding my sympathy with those who may be in some
publish-or-perish bind. Engineering is not a vanity process;
not supposed to be anyway. [No offense or slight intended
for anybody, and definitely not for David :-) Please don'
mistake clumsy words for arrogance.]

Happy holidays!
